Ambient Album On The Way

I just finished polishing off the last details of an ambient (yes, ambient)  Jondi & Spesh album. The album, called “Angles Of Estrangement” is already different for us just because of the fact that it’s ambient. However we took it even a step further by making it entirely beatless, and using a very specific aesthetic during the writing phase. Here’s an excerpt from an upcoming press release that may explain it best.

“Most of this album is comprised of previously published material that has been radically altered. Certain rules were applied to the re-composition process. For each of the “songs” in this collection, elements of soft and loud were deliberately used in search of contrasts designed to provoke the listener. Each composition contains a dramatic arc, and within that arc, an event. Each piece begins exactly where it ends, and thus can be played in an endless loop. There is little or no percussion.”

In other words, this album has more in common with the minimalist, electronic and quasi-classical compositions of Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto than it does with typical drone ambient or chill out.

Release is scheduled for July 14.

Ok, back to the dance music!
